Play Ball! Dawgs Open the 2026 Season at Home

There's nothing quite like a Foothills evening of baseball with the mountains in the background β€” and it's back. The Okotoks Dawgs open their 2026 WCBL season with a home opener Friday, May 29 at 7:05 PM against the Sylvan Lake Gulls, then host the Lethbridge Bulls Saturday and Sunday. It's a 56-game season for the eight-time champions, who are chasing a ninth title β€” and Seaman Stadium debuts new grandstand seating for 2026. See the Events section for the full home stand.

A Celebration of Indigenous Culture Comes to Okotoks

This weekend marks the fourth annual Tipi Camp and All-Indigenous Artisan Market β€” and the second annual competition Powwow β€” at the Viking Rentals Centre, May 29–31. Part of the Town of Okotoks' ongoing commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, the weekend brings together more than 59 First Nations, MΓ©tis and Inuit artists and creators from across the country at the "Iitohpoom'op" market, alongside song, dance, storytelling and ceremony. It's free to attend and open to everyone β€” see the Events section for daily times.

100 Women Who Care Foothills: A Decade of Giving Back

After 10 years of collective giving, 100 Women Who Care Foothills is still going strong β€” and growing. The organization recently donated $10,000 to Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta's Foothills Chapter, their latest in a long string of community investments totalling over $325,200 since 2015. No raffles, no bake sales β€” just 100 women each contributing $100 a quarter and voting on where it goes.

Their next event is Thursday, June 11 at the Turner Valley Golf Club in Diamond Valley β€” doors at 5:30 PM, meeting at 7:00 PM. Three local organizations will present for a chance at the next $10,000 grant: Inclusion Foothills, Pound Rescue, and Sheep Creek Arts Council. Guests are always welcome. Pre-register at 100WomenFoothills.ca.
